Soda

Short post today- I'm exhausted from doing FIVE interviews (that's a lot) and trekking across what feels like most of Coast Province (but was actually only to a couple of people's houses in the farmlands).  I still have to post about the kitten that I acquired in Malindi and a lot of other things but those will have to come later.

Soda in Kenya is cheaper than bottled water, and baridi sana (very cold) when compared to chai (tea).  So on a super hot day (every day in Mombasa), people often offer soda to visitors.  The types of soda here (and even regular soda) are completely different than what we have in the States.  The list goes as follows:
Coke (no high fructose corn syrup so different flavor)
Sprite (ditto)
Stoney Tangawika (a really strong, spicy ginger ale)
Fanta Orange
Fanta Black Currant
Fanta Citrus (lemony)
Fanta Passion (passion fruit)
Fanta SO MANY OTHER FLAVORS!!!

And that's pretty much it really- there's just so many Fanta flavors and most of them are really good.  Fanta is totally holding out in the States with crummy Fanta Orange and whatever that purple one is called that tastes super gross.
